Ammoniacal and Nitrate Nitrogen Release Pattern from Biochar and Biochar Blended Urea Fertilizers in Sandy Soil

چکیده

Biochar, an organic product of thermal decomposition biomass in oxygen limited environment can be used as a nutrient carrier to delay the release nutrients into soil, reduce leaching, and improve utilization efficiency fertilizers. Nutritional enhancement biochar through fertilizer blending could low cost but high solution compared non-blended However, rate from blended different soils is ambiguous. Hence 12 month incubation study was conducted sandy soil (ultisol) Thiruvananthapuram district Kerala elucidate ammoniacal nitrate nitrogen pattern produced paddy husk biochar, bentonite (1:1) each with urea ratios (1:0.5, 1:1, 1:2) including absolute control. The individual effects biochar-bentonite were also studied. Paddy by process slow pyrolysis biochar- fertilizers adsorbent process. To evaluate influence clay on it fertilizer. highest total content among recorded biochar: 1:2 (33.04%) followed biochar-bentonite: ratio (31.13%). revealed that maximum soil+ at 30 days (115.73 mg kg-1) sharp decline, maintaining value till end incubation, whereas sustained gradually increased reach 180th day (117.6 for 1:1 ratio. Nitrate same trend observed 150th (151.2 kg-1). more than throughout period all treatments. Among fertilizers, both comparatively less –bentonite Thus, biochar/ prolonged duration release.

Maize Stover Biochar Accelerated Urea Hydrolysis and Short-term Nitrogen Turnover in Soil

A soil incubation experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of biochar application (2% w/w) on urea hydrolysis and inorganic nitrogen accumulation. Fresh biochars were produced from maize stover that was pyrolyzed at 300 °C, 500 °C, and 700 °C. Then the matured biochars were obtained via a 50 days maturing process. Biochar prepared at 700 °C strongly accelerated the urea hydrolysis and...

Nitrate capture and slow release in biochar amended compost and soil

Slow release of nitrate by charred organic matter used as a soil amendment (i.e. biochar) was recently suggested as potential mechanism of nutrient delivery to plants which may explain some agronomic benefits of biochar. So far, isolated soil-aged and composted biochar particles were shown to release considerable amounts of nitrate only in extended (>1 h) extractions ("slow release"). In this s...

A Review of Biochar and Soil Nitrogen Dynamics

Interest in biochar stems from its potential agronomic benefits and carbon sequestration ability. Biochar application alters soil nitrogen (N) dynamics. This review establishes emerging trends and gaps in biochar-N research. Biochar adsorption of NO3, up to 0.6 mg g biochar, occurs at pyrolysis temperatures >600 °C with amounts adsorbed dependent on feedstock and NO3 concentration. Biochar NH4 ...

Biochar Application Effects on Soil Phosphorus Sorption and Release

We investigated the effects of chromate (CrVI) and phosphate (P) on their uptake and translocation in As-hyperaccumulator Pteris vittata (PV). Plants were exposed to 1) 0.05 mM CrVI and 0, 0.05, 0.25 or 1.25 mM P or 2) 0.25 mM P and 0, 0.05, 0.25 or 1.25 mM CrVI for 24 h in hydroponics. PV accumulated 2,919 mg/kg Cr in the roots at CrVI0.05, and 5,100 and 3,500 mg/kg P in the fronds and roots a...

Effect of biochar amendment on sorption and leaching of nitrate, ammonium, and phosphate in a sandy soil.

When applied to soils, it is unclear whether and how biochar can affect soil nutrients. This has implications both to the availability of nutrients to plants or microbes, as well as to the question of whether biochar soil amendment may enhance or reduce the leaching of nutrients. In this work, a range of laboratory experiments were conducted to determine the effect of biochar amendment on sorpt...
